Senior IT Engineer

Are you ready to spread your wings and soar with a team of innovators? At Butterfly, we're looking for a talented Digital Marketing Specialist to join our Brooklyn-based family.

About Neurable

Neurable is building neurotechnology that makes brain data useful in everyday life. Our software and hardware platform enables EEG-based devices to work beyond controlled lab environments, opening the door to new ways of understanding focus, fatigue, cognitive performance, and human-computer interaction. We are a small, ambitious team working across neuroscience, hardware, software, AI, product, and operations. The work is technically challenging, interdisciplinary, and grounded in a responsibility to build technology that earns trust. Privacy, security, and quality are part of the product. We are growing quickly and looking for people who want to help shape both the technology and the company as we scale.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior IT Engineer to own Neurable’s internal IT operations and support the systems that keep our team secure, productive, and ready to scale. This is a high-ownership role for someone who enjoys building structure in a fast-moving environment. You will manage internal IT systems, support device and access management, help maintain compliance programs, and work closely with engineering on security, privacy, and infrastructure reviews. Because Neurable builds both software and hardware, this role goes beyond traditional IT. You’ll support laptops, SaaS systems, demo machines, prototype hardware environments, and customer-facing demo readiness. You’ll be a strong fit if you like making systems cleaner, safer, easier to use, and harder to break.

What You’ll Do

IT Infrastructure & Operations

  • Own and manage internal IT systems, hardware, network infrastructure, and SaaS administration
  • Administer user accounts, devices, identity access, endpoint security, and permissions
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding workflows, including access provisioning and de-provisioning
  • Maintain IT documentation, runbooks, asset inventory, and support processes
  • Serve as the first point of contact for IT support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
  • Build scalable practices for device management, security hygiene, procurement, and internal tooling

Privacy, Security & Compliance

  • Work with engineering to maintain and improve Neurable’s SOC 2 compliance program
  • Support readiness for additional frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001, CCPA, FedRAMP, or others as business needs evolve
  • Review new systems, tools, vendors, and integrations for privacy, security, and compliance considerations
  • Coordinate security assessments, audit preparation, and vendor security reviews
  • Manage or support endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning, SIEM, password management, and device compliance tools
  • Maintain privacy, IT, and information security policies, procedures, and training materials

Engineering & Demo Support

  • Own demo laptop configuration, imaging, maintenance, and readiness
  • Maintain demo deployment environments for consistency and reliability
  • Support prototype hardware and internal system inventory in partnership with engineering
  • Create repeatable workflows for configuring, tracking, and supporting demo and development equipment

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in IT engineering, systems administration, security operations, or a similar role
  • Experience owning or materially supporting a SOC 2 Type I or Type II compliance program
  • Experience with GDPR compliance, privacy readiness, or similar regulatory programs
  • Strong understanding of IAM, SSO, MFA, user permissions, and access controls
  • Experience with endpoint management platforms such as Jamf, Kandji, Intune, or similar tools
  • Ability to review infrastructure configurations, architecture diagrams, and technical workflows for privacy or compliance gaps
  • Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar tools
  • Clear communication skills, especially when translating technical risk into plain language
  • Strong judgment, attention to detail, and comfort owning systems that affect the whole company

Nice to Have

  • Working knowledge of AWS or similar cloud platforms
  • Experience with ISO 27001, HIPAA, FedRAMP, CCPA, or other compliance frameworks
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management, SIEM, device compliance, or security monitoring tools
  • Experience with hardware imaging, device fleet management, demo environments, or lab operations
  • Startup or high-growth experience
  • Curiosity about AI/ML tools and internal workflow automation
  • Interest in neuroscience, cognitive performance, wearables, or human-computer interaction

What Success Looks Like

In your first 30 days, you will learn Neurable’s systems, devices, compliance program, and team workflows. You’ll map the current IT inventory, access management practices, and support processes while identifying immediate risks and quick wins.

In your first 60 days, you will take ownership of core IT workflows, including onboarding, offboarding, device management, access control, documentation, asset tracking, and demo laptop configuration.

In your first 90 days, you will fully own Neurable’s internal IT operating rhythm, establish clear runbooks and tracking systems, improve demo readiness, and become a trusted owner for IT, access management, security hygiene, and compliance coordination.

How We Work

At Neurable, we value people who are thoughtful, direct, curious, and accountable. We care about moving quickly, but not recklessly. We like builders who can zoom out to understand the mission and zoom in to sweat the details. You do not need to know everything on day one. You do need to learn quickly, communicate clearly, ask good questions, and take ownership when something matters. This role is especially important because the systems you build will help the company move faster, stay secure, and serve customers with confidence.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience and role scope
  • Equity participation in a high-growth neurotechnology company
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • The opportunity to shape Neurable’s IT and compliance function from the ground up
  • Exposure to novel work across neuroscience, AI, hardware, software, and human performance
  • A collaborative team that values rigor, warmth, and practical problem-solving

Requirements

  • Ability to work on-site
  • Ability to commute to the job location
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • No visa sponsorship available for this role
  • 3+ years of experience in information technology or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience using Python, Bash, or similar scripting tools preferred
